Funding Resources
Funding is a big concern for families who have children with special health care needs. Often eligible families can access 'family resource' dollars through their county's Department of Developmental Disabilities to help offset the costs of medical expenses. There are also a number of local and national organizations families can apply to for Grants and Scholarships that can help.
The Ohio Department of Insurance has an abundance of good consumer information on www.insurance.ohio.gov on all types of insurance and health care reform issues.

Act Today is a fund raising foundation whose main function is to distribute money to families in the Toledo area so they can have their children diagnosed, treated, and move forward in living with Autism.
Challenged America is an organization that gives grants to individuals with disabilities.

Foundation for the Challenged provides grants to help people with developmental disabilities transition into community living and enhance accessibility and their quality of life.
The Grottoes of North America Humanitarian Foundation is a nonprofit organization which helps children with special needs cover the costs of dental treatment, including hospital and anesthesia costs when needed.
HollyRod is an organization looking to help families to use iPads and apps to give children with ASD a voice. Income based $35,000 for single income & $50,000 for dual income. Accepting applications until Dec 31st, 2010.

Keystone Foundation provides referrals and funding for legal fees related to estate future financial planning for individuals with disabilities.
Luke Billings Foundation offers financial help to Central Ohio children with CP so they can receive necessary ongoing therapy.
National AMBUCS, Inc. creates independence for people with disabilities through various forms of community service, bikes, trikes and scholarships to therapists.
National Autism Association Helping Hand Program provides one time grants up to $1500 for bio-medical treatments, supplements or therapies for Autism.

Project iAm is a local organization that provides scholarship opportunities to children living with Autism.
Special Kids Therapy (SKT) is a local non-profit charity that assists families of children with special health care needs in Ohio obtain alternative therapies or necessities that have the potential to significantly enhance the quality of life for the child through scholarship assistance.

Variety Children's Charity Kids on the Go! provides funding for walkers, wheelchairs, specially-designed adaptive bikes, strollers, prosthetic limbs to families in need.
Wheel to Walk Foundation provides financial assiatance though scholarships for anything from leg braces, bath cahirs, gait trainers to therapy tricycles and wheelchairs.
